Fact Sheets on Wind Farms

Project area

Fera have confirmed 80-100 turbines with local landowners.

Fera is investigating the connection route to plug the Strathbogie Ranges Project into the National Grid.

The wind turbine area is bound by Avenel, Longwood, Ruffy, Highlands and Tarcombe.

The investigation area for the transmission line runs along a corridor of about 8 kilometres toward the 330kV transmission line in the southeast.

This site, around 25 km east-north east of Seymour, was selected because it has strong, consistent wind and is close to the main transmission line between Melbourne and Sydney.

We’ll keep working with the community on issues including where to invest community benefits funds of around $500,000 a year (considering causes such as the local CFA, telecommunications improvements and more), local energy bill bonuses for those close to the wind farm, and how to make sure inconveniences are minimised if and when we build.

Benefits

community

Fera will establish a Community Consultative Committee (CCC) once the project is within reach of construction.

Annual funding of $500,000 will be supplied to the Community Consultative Committee for community projects. Additionally, Fera will offer a local energy bill bonus to residents near the wind farm.

We want to create a positive legacy for the wind farm in the community.

Please contact us if you have any interest in joining, or would like more information on the committee.

local jobs

The Strathbogie Ranges Wind Farm will create 50-60 permanent local
jobs, because Fera aims to create long-term jobs in the communities around its projects.

Some 600-700 jobs will be created during construction: everything from concreting to electrical connection management.
